Reception
Reception Rationale
In Reception, under the strand ‘Past and Present’, pupils learn about significant events of the past, such as, the History of Bonfire Night and Remembrance Day. Over the year, the children use their knowledge to compare images of themselves as a baby and now and then put the pictures into a chronological order, recognise similarities and differences between things in the past and now. The children will learn about changes that have happened within their family lifetime-new baby, moving home, drawing on their experiences and what has been read in class, using vocabulary such as, today, now, tomorrow, yesterday, before, last week, at the weekend, this morning, tonight, last night, after and the days of the week.
