KS1 Shortlisted books
Our Shortlisted Books
14/12/17 We discussed the five lucky books that we have chosen and what first attracted us to them. A lot of us had really enjoyed these books when we were in KS1... others, were really interested in the front cover page. I know we shouldn't always judge a book by it's cover... but, quite often, thats what the younger children do. In our session we discussed what might catch the eye of a KS1 pupil.

We have rated this book.... 10/10 because it was really funny, the characters were interesting and it was very easy to read.

Toot and Pop
This is one of the first books that we have chosen to look at!
We discussed story telling and what makes a story interesting... all of the funny voices of course.
We have rated this book.... 8/10 because it had some tricky words eg Harbour. We decided that we might need to discuss this new vocabulary with younger children before we read the book to them.

Our final decission
Having looked at each of our short listed books (apart from Peace at Last as it was on loan to a child in the school) we have decided that our favourite book was 'The Smartest Giant in Town'. The children in reading club have each written a review for this book and they are placed on the reading tree in 6EP. Why not take a look at them?
